At Roots Peony Farm, we want everyone to be able to enjoy what we’re growing, starting with our website. Whether you’re reading about the farm, following our progress, or shopping for peonies, we’re committed to making this site easy to use for people of all abilities, including people with disabilities.

Our Approach

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make websites work better for people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive, or learning disabilities.

To work toward that goal, we:

Describe our photos with alternative text so people using screen readers know what each image shows.
Use clear headings and page structure so the site can be navigated by keyboard and assistive technology.
Provide a “Skip to Content” link at the top of every page.
Choose text and background colors with readable contrast.
Check new pages and blog posts for accessibility before we publish them.

Known Limitations

We’re a small farm, and we’re still growing in more ways than one. Some parts of our site may not yet work as well as we’d like with every device or assistive technology. Our online shop runs on a third-party checkout system, and while we’ve chosen tools that support accessibility, we can’t control every part of that experience.

Visiting the Farm

This statement covers our website. If you have questions about getting around the farm in person, especially as we prepare to open u-pick, please reach out. We’ll gladly tell you what to expect and do what we can to make your visit a good one.
